Glasgow Commonwealth Games return with far less fanfare than in 2014
The Commonwealth Games have returned to Glasgow, Scotland's biggest city, but the mood is markedly more subdued than when the city last hosted in 2014, when anticipation built for months. The event's mascot, a unicorn named Finnie, is largely unknown to locals — one Glaswegian admitted he thought a poster of it meant "the bronies are making a comeback." Organisers hope the Games will gain momentum despite the low-key build-up.
