Nicaragua's Ortega Cancels Elections, Extending His 20-Year Rule

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega announced that his country will hold no more elections, effectively cancelling the vote originally scheduled for November 2027. Ortega has ruled Nicaragua for more than 20 years. The move marks a further consolidation of authoritarian power in the Central American nation.
