Trade unions demand public sector pay rises, warn of dysfunctional state

Piotr Szumlewicz, head of the Związkowa Alternatywa trade union, has called on the Ministry of Finance to raise pay for public sector workers. He argues that a secure and functional state is impossible without a well-paid public administration. The union warns that Poland cannot afford a "cheap state."
