Man buys used Mercedes for 24,000 PLN, ZUS demands 47,000 PLN in debt

A resident of Zgierz bought a second-hand Mercedes for 24,000 PLN and drove it without issue for a year. He then received a letter from ZUS (Poland's social insurance authority) informing him that the vehicle carried an outstanding debt of 47,000 PLN — more than double what he paid for the car.
