Anthropic pays $1.5B to authors for training AI on pirated books
A judge has approved a $1.5 billion settlement by Anthropic in favour of authors whose pirated books were used to train its AI models. Plaintiff attorney Justin Nelson described it as "the largest known copyright recovery in history." The case sets a major legal precedent for copyright in the AI era.
