Scientists Date Historic Mount Rainier Mudflow to Summer of 1507

Scientists have pinpointed the date of a massive lahar called the Electron Mudflow on Mount Rainier to the summer of 1507. The study helps researchers better understand the complex volcanic threats posed by the mountain and the broader Puget Sound region. The dating method developed could also be used to determine the timing of other historic geologic events in the area.
