Moving floors inspired by Japanese pagodas could stop skyscrapers swaying
A new construction design inspired by traditional Japanese pagodas uses moving floors to reduce the swaying of tall buildings in strong winds. The floors act as dampers, absorbing vibration energy and improving structural stability. Researchers say the approach could make modern skyscrapers significantly safer. The findings were published in the journal Nature.
