Single 300 kg Spacecraft Could Survey Moon, Asteroids and Mars Moons in One Mission

The SETI Institute proposes a new class of 300 kg reconnaissance spacecraft that maps mineral composition from orbit using Raman spectroscopy during high-speed flybys — with no landing or sample return required. A single mission could assess ice and ilmenite on the Moon, ore content at asteroids, and volatile-bearing minerals at Mars' moons Phobos and Deimos. The concept directly supports NASA's long-term goals for sustainable lunar presence and Mars logistics.
