NASA Studies Gravitational Wave Detection Using Independent Spacecraft Pairs

Researchers at Brookhaven Science Associates have proposed a new method for detecting gravitational waves at low frequencies using precision astrometry based on quantum two-photon interference. The key advantage is that two separate spacecraft can operate entirely independently, without any optical link between them. This greatly simplifies the engineering requirements compared to conventional space-based interferometric designs.
