Galaxy Digital Commits $5M to Protect Bitcoin Against Quantum Computing Threat

Galaxy Digital has launched its Bitcoin Quantum Readiness Initiative, committing up to $5 million in developer grants, research and an advisory council to harden the Bitcoin network against quantum computing threats. The programme targets the vulnerability of Bitcoin's elliptic curve cryptography to future quantum computers. Galaxy's head of research Alex Thorn describes it as a long-term engineering challenge rather than an immediate crisis.
