Iranians lose hope for change as economy collapses and repression grows
Iran appears to be returning to normal life — busy streets, young people in malls, retirees playing chess — but beneath the surface, anger and helplessness are growing. The economy is in crisis, unemployment and poverty are rising, and repression of dissidents is intensifying. Many Iranians have lost hope for political change, asking: if the US couldn't topple the regime, what can ordinary citizens do?
