Europe's tallest Virgin Mary statue rising in a small Polish village
A monumental statue of the Virgin Mary, funded by billionaire Roman Karkosik, is nearing completion in a small Polish village next to a historic Marian sanctuary. The figure will stand over 40 metres tall atop a 15-metre crown-shaped pedestal that will serve as a viewing terrace, surpassing both the Christ the King statue in Świebodzin and the Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro (38.5 m with base). The solemn consecration is planned for 15 August 2026.
