ECOWAS Summit in Freetown Calls for Far-Reaching Reforms

The 69th ECOWAS summit was held on July 19th in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where outgoing chair Julius Maada Bio called for "far-reaching changes" within the West African bloc. Senegal assumed the rotating presidency, while Guinea strongly condemned sanctions imposed by the organisation in recent years.
