Ten years of spatial transcriptomics is transforming medicine

Over the past decade, spatially resolved transcriptomic technologies have enabled detailed mapping of gene expression within tissues, deepening scientific understanding of development and disease. Progress has been driven by a feedback loop between academic research and industry. The milestone is reviewed in a new paper published in Nature on 21 July 2026.
