Solomon Islands ditches China, signs security agreement with the US

The Solomon Islands, previously regarded as a Chinese foothold in the Pacific, have signed a security agreement with the United States, AFP reported. The archipelago's prime minister fulfilled a campaign pledge to reorient the country's foreign policy. He cited security concerns as the reason for the strategic shift toward Washington.
