"Lex Skrzypek" takes effect: courts can now review prosecutors' denial of witness counsel

An amendment to the Code of Criminal Procedure, known as "lex Skrzypek," entered into force on Tuesday. The new rules allow courts to review a prosecutor's decision to deny a witness the presence of their legal counsel during questioning. The change significantly strengthens procedural rights for witnesses in Polish criminal law.
