Washington court blocks Kalshi sports prediction markets as illegal gambling

A Washington state court granted a preliminary injunction against Kalshi, ruling that its sports prediction markets constitute illegal gambling under state law. The court sided with the state's motion to block the service. Kalshi had previously gained prominence after the CFTC permitted it to run election prediction markets.
