Scientists push to classify Iberian rabbit as a separate species

Spanish biologists, backed by researchers from Portugal and the UK, are calling for the rabbit native to the Iberian Peninsula to be recognised as a distinct species. They argue it differs biologically from other European rabbits and even tastes different. The reclassification would have both scientific and culinary implications.
