Four New White Dwarfs Found Within 65 Light Years, Hidden by Red Dwarf Partners
Astronomers have discovered four new white dwarf stars within roughly 65 light years of Earth, all of which had previously escaped detection. The white dwarfs are hidden in tight binary systems with red dwarf companions whose much greater brightness masks them. The pairs once shared a common envelope, offering important clues about stellar evolution.
