Nvidia Builds Japan's $6.1bn National AI Infrastructure with Noetra

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is backing a partnership between Noetra Corp — a consortium of NEC, Sony, Honda, SoftBank and 44 other organisations — and Nvidia to build the FRONTia national AI infrastructure. Noetra won the tender on 30 June 2026 to run the project until 2030, with up to ¥1 trillion (around $6.1 billion) expected to be invested. The system will be powered by 13,750 Vera CPUs and 27,500 Rubin GPUs, making it the world's first national AI infrastructure for physical AI.
