Der Spiegel: Katowice transformed from smoky industrial city to new Polish heart

German magazine Der Spiegel published a reportage on Katowice, the former capital of Polish heavy industry, once celebrated as a model workers' city under communism. After the fall of communist Poland, the city underwent a lengthy transformation. Der Spiegel argues that Katowice today symbolises the broader changes that have taken place across the whole of Poland.
