Uzbekistan hit by 48°C heatwave: kindergartens closed, metro slowed

Uzbekistan is experiencing an unusually intense heatwave, with temperatures reaching 48°C in parts of the country. Authorities responded by slowing metro trains, restricting heavy vehicle traffic and closing kindergartens. It is one of the most severe heat episodes on record in the country.
