Parasite 'Ate' Woman's Cornea After She Washed Her Face With Contact Lenses In

47-year-old Emma Marsden developed a rare and serious Acanthamoeba corneal infection after washing her face without removing her contact lenses. The parasite effectively began destroying her cornea, causing severe pain and threatening permanent vision loss. Doctors warn that contact lenses must never be worn during any contact with water.
