AliExpress fined record $625M by EU for failing to remove illegal products
The European Commission fined AliExpress over $625 million — the largest penalty ever issued under the Digital Services Act (DSA). The platform failed to set up teams dedicated to removing counterfeit and dangerous goods, and actively made it easier for bad actors to evade detection. The fine is intended to force compliance with EU rules on illegal and unsafe products.
