Nawrocki vetoes "closest person" law, leaving unmarried couples unprotected

President Karol Nawrocki has vetoed the "closest person" bill, which was designed to give unmarried partners legal recognition for accessing health information, inheritance and everyday administrative matters. Nawrocki argued the law threatened the institution of marriage. Critics say the veto denies millions of Poles basic rights in their daily lives.
