Australian ski resorts smash July heat records — 12°C above average
Alpine ski resorts in New South Wales and Victoria recorded temperatures up to 12°C above the July average over the weekend, shattering climate records. Mount Hotham, Falls Creek and Thredbo all set new July heat records for both daytime and night-time temperatures, according to the Bureau of Meteorology. The ski season is off to a warm and dry start, with only sporadic natural snowfall across many alpine areas.
