Former US Air Force secretary: simulations are key to building trust in autonomous CCA drones

Frank Kendall, the US Air Force's 26th secretary who served under President Biden, said simulations and training exercises are the critical next step in integrating semiautonomous Collaborative Combat Aircraft into the Air Force. Speaking at a Mitchell Institute roundtable, he stressed the need to gradually accumulate trust between human operators and autonomous systems. Earlier this week, the Air Force conducted the first-ever live-fire test of an inert AIM-120 missile from an Anduril-made YFQ-44A drone.
