GitHub makes two-factor authentication mandatory from 2 September 2026
GitHub has announced that two-factor authentication (2FA) will become mandatory for certain contributors from 2 September 2026. Users who disable 2FA before that date will have their GitHub.com access restricted until they re-enable it. The move is part of a broader effort to secure the software supply chain.
