Bank of Korea to test live CBDC transactions with 9 banks in September

The Bank of Korea plans to launch a live central bank digital currency (CBDC) pilot in September involving nine major commercial banks. Retail consumers will be able to freely trade tokenised won across different financial institutions on a shared blockchain network. It is one of the largest live CBDC tests conducted anywhere in the world to date.
