Andy Burnham becomes UK PM — what is Manchesterism?

Andy Burnham took office as UK Prime Minister on Monday, becoming the seventh person to hold the post in a decade. During nearly ten years as Mayor of Manchester he liberalised local economic regulations — a policy dubbed "Manchesterism" — driving a regional economic revival. Labour voters are now hoping he can replicate that success nationally and reverse some of the negative effects of Brexit.
