Pharmaceuticals and Artificial Hormones Detected in Baltic Sea Marine Life
Research by Dr Anna Hallmann and Dagmara Leszczyńska from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University of Gdańsk (GUMed) has confirmed that pharmaceutical substances and artificial hormones are penetrating the bodies of marine creatures in the Baltic Sea. The contamination originates from the everyday habits of residents and tourists. Scientists warn this is a growing ecological threat to the Baltic ecosystem.
