Apple developed M2 and M3 Extreme chips and two unreleased Mac Pro models before axing them

According to journalist Mark Gurman, Apple developed M2 Extreme and M3 Extreme chips as well as two unreleased Mac Pro models, including one with an Intel processor, before cancelling the line in March this year. The revelations suggest Apple's decision to discontinue the Mac Pro was not part of the original plan. The company scrapped the advanced projects at a late stage of development.
