Korean stock market crash wipes out 300,000 accounts, triggers suicide crisis

South Korea's KOSPI index broke 9,000 points for the first time in history, but a sharp reversal that followed devastated retail investors. Over one million Koreans received margin calls, and hundreds of thousands of accounts were forcibly liquidated. The financial regulator is now working on an "economic suicide-prevention programme for families" in response to the scale of the crisis.
