Seoul stock crash: 300,000 wiped-out accounts and suicide prevention programme

After the KOSPI index broke the 9,000-point barrier for the first time, South Korea's stock market suffered a devastating crash. Over one million retail investors received margin calls, hundreds of thousands faced forced liquidations, and 300,000 accounts were wiped out. The scale of the disaster has prompted the financial regulator to develop an "economic suicide prevention programme for families".
