EU slows pace of energy transition – but "polluter pays" principle remains

The European Commission has proposed slowing the pace of the energy transition for the first time in the over 20-year history of the ETS system. Poland's Bartłomiej Sawicki confirmed that Poland negotiated a slower pace of change in EU climate policy. However, despite the concessions, Brussels is not abandoning the fundamental principle that polluters must pay for their emissions.
