New EU border system EES tripling passport control wait times, airport boss warns

The new EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is tripling wait times at passport control, according to an airport chief. Ryanair has warned passengers travelling to Europe this summer to brace for significantly longer queues at border checkpoints. The EES requires biometric registration of non-Schengen travellers each time they enter or exit the EU.
