Poland 7th in EU for hospital beds but faces severe doctor shortage

Poland ranks seventh in the EU for hospital beds, with around 620 per 100,000 inhabitants compared to the EU average of just over 500, according to Eurostat. Despite this infrastructure advantage, the country faces a serious shortage of medical staff to fill those beds. The gap between physical capacity and available healthcare workers represents a structural paradox in the Polish health system.
