Poland's Nature Council Opposes Beech Felling in Puszcza Bukowa Forest

Poland's State Nature Conservation Council (PROP) has issued a strongly negative opinion against plans by the Regional Directorate of State Forests to resume felling beeches in Puszcza Bukowa forest. Conservationists have hailed the PROP response as a breakthrough in the fight to protect the woodland. The dispute centres on one of Poland's most valuable natural beech forest complexes.
