Decorated boar tusk amulet from medieval warrior discovered in Novgorod the Great

Archaeologists in Novgorod the Great, Russia, have unearthed a rare medieval wild-boar tusk fitted with an engraved metal cap, dating to the mid-12th to early 13th century. The object was likely used by a warrior or noble as a good-luck charm or amulet. Co-author Natalia Eniosova of Lomonosov Moscow State University highlighted its exceptional size — the surviving fragment is about 10 cm long, making it unusually large for such an artefact.
