Australia to curb government use of automated AI decision-making

Australia's Albanese government is drawing up tough new national rules to govern the use of AI in automated decision-making by government departments and agencies, with fairness, accuracy and transparency as top priorities. The plan is expected to extend to consumer protection, workplace safety and privacy regulations. Senior ministers are also pushing for a separate digital duty of care law.
