NASA warns: once-in-a-millennium solar storms far stronger than estimated

New research led by NASA Goddard has found persistent erroneous measurements that caused past estimates of geomagnetic storm severity to be significantly underestimated. This means so-called once-in-a-thousand-year solar storms could be far more powerful than previously assumed.
