Mercedes legally boosts MGU-K power at end of F1 qualifying laps

Mercedes has developed a legal method to deploy its MGU-K unit at full power almost until the very end of a qualifying lap, cutting power more abruptly than rivals. The solution works around a previous FIA ban on emergency shutdown of the hybrid system. It gives the team a measurable advantage in qualifying sessions.
