NBP: wave of payment fraud shifts from cards to bank transfers
In Q1 2026, the number of fraudulent cashless transactions in Poland rose 3.4% quarter-on-quarter, while their total value surged 46.8%, according to the National Bank of Poland. The average fraudulent transaction amounted to PLN 2,154.40. The NBP highlights that the growing wave of fraud is increasingly concentrated in bank transfers rather than payment cards.
