Middle East revives Hejaz and Baghdad railways to bypass the Strait of Hormuz
Middle Eastern countries are developing two major infrastructure projects based on the historic Hejaz and Baghdad railway routes, according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The goal is to reduce reliance on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and redirect trade flows through Syria, Iraq and Turkey. The initiative has been compared to a new Middle Eastern Silk Road, creating fresh trade corridors across the region.
