Kylian Mbappe scored twice in France's 4-6 third-place defeat to England, moving past Lionel Messi to become the all-time top scorer in World Cup history with 22 goals. England led 4-0 at half-time before France staged a comeback in the second half. Mbappe is also in contention to defend his Golden Boot from Qatar 2022.
