Rock & roller Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon dies aged 89

Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon, the early rock & roller known for joyful hits including "Tallahassee Lassie" (1959) and "Palisades Park" (1962), died on July 17 at a California hospice after a brief battle with cancer. He was 89 years old. His death was announced by longtime friend Tom Cuddy.
