Ukraine to open archives and conduct exhumations of Volhynia massacre victims

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that all archives related to the Volhynia massacre will be opened and exhumations carried out. Prof. Grzegorz Hryciuk, a historian from the University of Wrocław, called it a step in the right direction but not a breakthrough. Exhumations could yield new knowledge about the crimes, though they also present practical challenges.
