De la Fuente won't man-mark Messi in World Cup final despite him scoring four last time
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has confirmed he will not man-mark Lionel Messi in Sunday's World Cup final in New Jersey, despite Messi having scored eight goals and provided four assists in the tournament. De la Fuente recalled that 22 years ago, when coaching Sevilla's youth team, he removed the man-marker from Messi during a cup tie in May 2004 at the Miniestadi — and Messi scored four goals. Despite that experience, De la Fuente is sticking to a zonal approach for the final.
