What cats grooming each other actually means

When cats lick each other — a behaviour known as allogrooming — it serves important social functions beyond being visually appealing. Cats use mutual grooming to strengthen bonds, express trust and help each other reach hard-to-clean areas such as the head and neck. The behaviour is most common between cats that share a close relationship.
