Polish 1982 World Cup bronze medallist Dziuba warns England and France: third place beats fourth

Marek Dziuba, a Polish international who won bronze at the 1982 World Cup in Spain, is urging England and France not to write off the third-place play-off at the 2026 World Cup. The 53-cap veteran recalls that Poland faced the same situation after losing their semi-final to Italy 44 years ago, but went on to claim the bronze medal. "Fourth place is the worst — nobody remembers it later. Third place is still a podium and a medal," he says.
